Extract from email sent by Sebastian Lewandowski, Project Engineer, Amey:

The scheme involves repair works to four bridges between M50 Jct2 and Jct3 – these are Bevanhill, Heath Farm, Ryton and Callow Farm (see plan). The works will involve concrete repairs to the piers and edge cantilevers and other minor repairs to the decks. All the site activities for these will take place on the M50 carriageway and will not affect the local roads that these structures are carrying.

There are however, other aspects of that contract that I think will be of more interest – these are the works on the top of the decks; re-waterproofing and resurfacing of the decks with possible new arrangement for road markings. To carry them out the four forementioned structures would have to be closed for traffic for a minimum period of five weeks. To minimise disruption and to avoid lengthy diversions we are proposing to close Ryton and Bevanhill in the first stage and once they are reopened for traffic, close Heath Farm and Callow Farm for the same amount of time. Please note that the length of the closing periods might change as we are just entering the detailed design stage. At the moment we are in a process of agreeing diversion routes with Gloucestershire Highways.

At this stage works are planned to start on site in spring 2013.
