The Redmarley Village Hall was originally the village school built in 1860. It has served as a community building for the village and outlying areas for many years and substancially extended and modernized in 1995.
The facilities, the Main hall with bar, the smaller meeting rooms, a kitchen, shower area, and car parking, make an attractive area for hire for use for private parties, club meetings, lectures and many other types of activity. The hall is managed by a charitable trust, the Trustees, a small team of volunteers who give of their time to keep this building open for community use. The nominated trustees are myself, Peter Condon, Jenny Berrington and Sophy Darlow.
The Constitution is available on the website and makes informative and ” interesting” reading.
The Committee meetings are held monthly, with the Officers of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, following an Agenda, with minutes taken as a record of the business addressed. Some committee members take on designated areas of responsibility.
I Chair the monthly meetings and Jo acts as our Secretary. Peter has been our trusty Treasurer for many years producing very precise accounts keeping our finances in order, a very important function and requirement as a Trustee of the Trust. He has now handed over the area of maintainence to Stewart, who covers the structure of the building as well as the outside areas. We continue to engage an outside agency to address the” green areas” and make the surroundings in keeping with environment. Rich Hunt joined us this year, as our bookings/hiring contact, but as he is moving from the village has relinquished this role. We thank him for his time and contribution to the hall with us. Sophy keeps our ”house ” in order again with outside agency work from Jill our cleaner.

Since our AGM last year Redmarley School was our main hirer; they cancelled their contract at the end of the summer term. At the present time we are in the process of reinstating the Ian Smith rooms and making them fit for purpose as they were prior to that letting. A sound system is in place and TV screen adds to the facilities in the main hall.
Like all buildings general weare and tear needs constant monitoring and the committee endeavours to keep on top of this.

A proposal for the future use of the building, the hiring out as Business space and The garden space outside the Ian Smith room, a community garden.
“Growth is the only evidence of life, Change is the only evidence of growth.”

Half of the 6 members ( the elderly half)  of RVH committee will be resigning at the end of the year. The hall cannot function without a management committee.
Its financial position is sound at present but we need new committee members to make sure we can carry on operating.

I would like to thank everyone who has given of their time over the last twelve months, and time before, to ensure the village hall has satisfied the needs of our village community.
